I originally wrote my book "Becoming God"
as scientific approach to debunk spirituality and religion through a
close examination of quantum physics, neurobiology, and string
theory. For me, there was no mystery. Everything, I
thought, could be explained by the forces of nature and through
sciences that we are just now beginning to unravel. I couldn't
have been more wrong.
As I began researching my book, it
became clear to me that there was a much closer connection between
science and spirituality than anyone could ever imagine. The more
I probed into this enigmatic subject, the more sure I became that
science itself is not only showing us how it is intricately connected
to spirituality, but is in fact, merely a metaphor inserted within our
waking dream (that we call reality) as a reminder that all of our
thoughts and emotions manifest themselves every second of our lives as
the reality we see before our eyes.
This transformation from atheist to
spiritual enlightenment has been the most significant experience of my
life, affecting all of my thoughts about everything and changing the
very essence of my being. I have in the process become a
conscious being who is truly self-aware.
The irony in all of this is the
connection I discovered between this cutting edge science and ancient
religions and spiritual beliefs. It became very clear to me that
all of the religions have a piece of the puzzle as with science and
furthermore, are saying fundamentally the same thing once we remove the
rhetoric surrounding every religion and theoretical science.
One thing that everyone can agree on is the fundamental role meditation
plays on lucidly controlling our living experience and communing with
God or our infinite selves. Every religion in the world believes
in some form of meditation, whether it be
in the form of clearing our thoughts to receive infinite wisdom or
through various prayers to ask God in all of its variations for
